The Yule Tree
Side note: Color lights are in, boring beige (or as my husband likes to call it, grandma-core) is out. Idc idc 😤
Simple yet beautiful. That’s how I like to decorate. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! As Norse Pagans, we celebrate Yule/Jul as well which usually falls in January. So the festivities aren’t over for us yet!
This is what our family enjoys doing for this most lovely season, and I hope we can inspire you as well!
- Sugar cookie baking and decorating

I don’t share photos of my children here, but I almost wish I did so you could see how much our 2 year old enjoyed frosting and putting sprinkles onto the cookies. She was so focused and I could tell she was having a blast. As a mom, this was one of those moments that made it all worth it. My husband also partook (is that a word?) in decorating the cookies. I think he had more fun than she did.

2. Photos with Santa
This is a must! It always turns out so cute.
We took our first when she was 8 months old, skipped the next year (don’t remember why), but this year we went again and wow, what a difference 2 years makes. Our family feels so complete with our two girls.
3. Seeing Christmas Lights
Whether it’s drive thru or walk through (we’ve done both), this is so magical. It’s really an inexpensive way to make memories, regardless if you have kids or not. My husband and I did a drive thru one while I was pregnant with our oldest and it was still fun. Maybe more for me though rather than him, cause I turn into Buddy the Elf after Thanksgiving.
4. Cuddling up and watching a Christmas Movie
One of my absolute favorite traditions. I get to enjoy it even more now that I have littles; I just want to share everything that makes the season magical with them.
A couple of the movies I started showing my daughter is Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, along with the sequel, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas.

I grew up watching these and they are sooo cute.
When our girls get older I want to show them Elf and The Santa Clause.
In the adult category, my favorites are:
-Holidate (2020)
-The Holiday (2006)
-Love Hard (2021)
You could call me a romance fan 😅
5. Opening one present on Christmas Eve
This is also a tradition I grew up with. On Christmas Eve, my siblings and I got to pick out 1 gift from under the tree to open. I’ve now passed it on to my family and it really adds to the anticipation of the next morning.
Happy Holidays and thank you for reading!
